CultUurtje Vechtdal College - Seven Days of War - 'I Shall Reign' - Maart 2012

Deathmetalband 'Seven Days of War' met het nummer 'I Shall Reign' tijdens het Pauzeconcert van maart op het Vechtdal College te Hardenberg. Seven Days of War is een 5-koppige melodic deathmetal band uit Dedemsvaart en omstreken. De band bestaat uit Thomas Muis (toetsen), Sjors Berends (basgitaar), Jeroen Reurink (gitaar en zang), Sjoerd Reurink (drums) en Koen Meuleman (gitaar en zang). Zowel Koen, Sjoerd, Jeroen als Thomas zijn leerlingen van het Vechtdal College Hardenberg. Het idee voor de band ontstond al in 2009, alleen het was niet tot begin 2011 dat het meer vorm kreeg en uiteindelijk ook alle plaatsen in de band gevuld waren. Kort na de volledige formatie begon de band met het hard en veel oefenen van eigen nummers, en in mei 2011 was het zover! Op hun eerste optreden bij Rock Your Stage overdonderde ze meteen het publiek en de jury, wat ze de publieksprijs en een 2de plek voor de juryprijs opleverde. De stijl van de band valt het best te beschrijven als Melodic Deat! hmetal met Metalcore invloeden. De bandleden hebben uiteenlopende smaken binnen metal, en dat is ook terug te horen in de sound van de band, die heeft iets weg van en ook is beïnvloed door bands als Kalmah, Orpheus, Dark Tranquility, Winds of Plague, In Flames, At the Gates en Dimmu Borgir. Seven Days of War heeft het podium al mogen delen met onder andere: Undawn, Facing the Madness, The Scarlet Claw, Alerion, Ex Libris en Carnation.
